13 December 2017
The Metro Tunnel Project (Tunnel and Stations PPP) will be a major enhancement to Melbourne's rail network, integrating with the existing rail system. It will create a new end-to-end rail line from Sunbury to Cranbourne/Pakenham, with high capacity trains and five new underground stations – at Arden, Parkville, CBD North, CBD South and Domain. Twin nine-kilometre tunnels for Melbourne's busiest rail lines will create space for more trains to run more often across the metropolitan rail network. A procurement and delivery strategy has been developed to respond to the unique challenges this poses.
The Melbourne Metro Rail Authority (MMRA) is the Victorian Government body responsible for delivery of the Metro Tunnel. MMRA has contracted Cross Yarra Partnership (CYP) to design, build and maintain the stations and tunnels for the Metro Tunnel Project.
