Local and Indigenous businesses big winners in Eden wharf upgrade

Eden, on the far south coast of New South Wales, is set to become a major domestic cruising destination with the extension and upgrade of the Eden Breakwater Wharf, and local businesses are already reaping the benefits.

ICN NSW has worked closely with the NSW State Government from the beginning of the project, including attending mandatory pre-tender briefings and developing work packages that aligned with the local industry participation plan.

ICN Consultant Wally Hirsch also introduced the tenderers for the major works to the Twofold Aboriginal Corporation and its construction arm, Mundabaa, as potential Indigenous Participation Partners.

Defence Boost for Shoalhaven Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)

There have been three major projects established in the local area including; the N2222 Seahawk Romeo Helicopter Facilities project; the JP 9000 Phase 7 Helicopter Aircrew Training Systems Facilities project (HATS) as well as the N2183 HMAS Albatross Stage 3 Redevelopment project.

The Delivery phase for N2222 Seahawk Romeo Helicopter Facilities project commenced in October 2013 with Stage 1 SSWC being completed in September 2014 and Stage 2 Squadron Facility in December 2014. N2183 commenced in July 2013 and JP9000 commenced in June 2015. Both are due for completion by mid-2017.

Local suppliers big winners for ACT Law Courts

ACT and regional NSW companies have successfully bid for a number of work packages for the construction of the new $150 million ACT Courts Precinct.

ICN’s Wally Hirsch said it was a great example of how ICN can help local business connect with major project owners and consortium through Gateway as well as industry briefings and behind-the-scenes consultation.

Canberra region businesses won work packages in concreting, electrical, craneage, roofing, steel fabrication, joinery, furniture fittings and equipment including curtains and floorcoverings, painting, landscaping and a range of other associated projects, he said, adding that this accounted for more than a third of the total project spend.

Australian security company a winner thanks to ICN

Thanks to ICN, Australian security services company, Unified Security Group, has won a substantial ongoing contract with Bombardier Transport to provide integrated security services for its newly-constructed Wulkuraka Maintenance Centre in South East Queensland.

Unified has been contracted to supply a fully-integrated security service package for the facility including onsite guarding services, mobile patrols, canine services, security management services and security consulting services. In addition to the site-based deployment, Unified’s services are being used to secure and monitor rolling stock in transit and in offsite locations with a combination of guarding and mobile electronic surveillance solutions, including CCTV Trailers, and peripheral surveillance and detection devices.
