Dianne Smith
Cheif Executive Officer
ICN Victoria

Dianne Smith is passionate about growing industry capability and local jobs with a well-connected business and government network across Victoria. Prior to ICN Victoria, Dianne held various senior positions including Chief Executive at the Melbourne Chamber of Commerce and Chief Executive of the Victoria Tourism Industry Council. Dianne was appointed to the previous Victorian Ministerial Advanced Manufacturing Advisory Council and is currently the Deputy Chair of Puffing Billy Railway.

 

Adam McEvoy
Managing Director, Supply Chain
Recharge Industries

Adam McEvoy is the Managing Director of Supply Chain. In this role, he works to identify current or upcoming Australian supply chain partners Recharge Industries™ .

Adam has significant experience in supply chain, contracts, procurement, logistics, and commercial spanning industries including manufacturing, resources (maintenance, operations, capital projects, and logistics) heavy equipment, FMCG, and retail. He has successfully managed large teams, portfolios, and transformation programs.

Adam spent the bulk of his career, over 13 years, at Woodside Energy working his way up to becoming the General Manager ­– Commercial Logistics Transformation.

Adam has significant experience adding value, reducing costs, and developing robust strategies for overcoming corporate challenges.

 

Dale Walters
Head of Sales and Marketing
Leonardo Australia

Dale Walters is the Leonardo International Country Manager for Australia and Leonardo Australia Head of Sales and Marketing. Dale commenced with Leonardo Australia in January 2022, leading Sales and Marketing for Australia across Helicopters, Aircraft, Electronics, Space and Cyber and Security.

Dale spent 21 years as a Marine Engineer in the Royal Australian Navy concluding his service on ANZAC Class Frigates.

After leaving service, Dale undertook a variety of Business Development and Program Management roles with global Defence Prime Contractors Tenix Defence, BAE Systems, KBR, Lockheed Martin, Leidos, Rockwell Collins, Collins Aerospace and Austal Ships.
He also established his own consulting business specialising in Defence related advisory services in the areas of Strategy, Government Relations and Tendering.

John O’Callaghan
Victorian Defence Industry Advocate
Victorian Defence Council

John (Johnno) O’Callaghan is the Chair of the Defence Council Victoria and Defence Science Institute Advisory Board. He has over 30 years’ experience in senior public and private sector roles. In 2019, he was appointed as the Victorian Defence Industry Advocate. In this role he provides strategic defence industry advice to the Victorian Government, as well as assisting Victorian based defence industry companies to navigate, among other things, the complex Department of Defence procurement process.

For five years until 2017, Johnno was Executive Director of the Australian Industry Group Defence Council, the leading organisation representing the interests of defence industry made up of the CEOs of Australia’s defence industry companies.  He chaired the Defence Council’s Contracting Working Group focused on improving defence capital procurement with attention to intellectual property, liability, insurance and reducing red tape.

Prior to this, Johnno was the Government Relations Manager for Virgin Blue (now Virgin Australia) and the Corporate Affairs Manager at Bonlac Foods (now Fonterra).

Carley Scott
Victorian Defence Council

Carley is one of Australia’s most sought-after commercial space experts, having led rapid start-up activities that developed Australia’s first commercial spaceport and established a world – first contract with NASA for the launch of three scientific rockets in 2022. Her international trade and local industry advocacy efforts are paving the way for significant allied space collaborations going forward.

Carley is also an advisor to the CSIRO on the Advanced Manufacturing Committee and is a mentor for Moonshot space start-up programs. Previously, Carley was on the Board of the Space Industry Association of Australia and Western Melbourne Tourism. She has presented at international conferences such as SXSW and IAC about space launch, strategy and commercial growth, and has been the CEO of fast growth start-ups with major shareholders including Rio Tinto and government entities.

Awarded Australia’s pre-eminent recognition for service the Order of Australia Medal in 2021, ranked in the top 100 Women of Influence’ by AFR in 2019/2020, and winner of the Telstra Business Women’s Award in 2017, Carley is recognised for her positive impact on Australian industry and community.

Carley is a graduate of Monash University (business, commerce and communications) and is passionate about innovation, enterprise and opportunities for collaboration between allied nations.

George Di Scala
Deputy Director, International Market Development
Global Victoria

George has extensive experience as a trade development manager, with broad practical international experience in program management, trade promotion, investment facilitation, marketing and events management fields.

George and his team are responsible for delivering a variety of Global Victoria’s trade development work and programs. His team identify and investigate emerging industries such as medicinal cannabis and nutraceuticals, and a trade program dedicated to supporting First Nation companies to engage internationally.

Connect with George if you’re considering engaging with New Zealand and the Americas export markets, would like to know more about trade development for consumer goods in international markets using global eCommerce platforms, and if you identify as a First Nation people and are considering exporting.
