The Victorian Government is investing $41.10 million to build a new acute and residential aged care facility in Cohuna in the north of the state between Swan Hill and Moama.
The new facility will replace the Cohuna District Nursing Home and the current medical ward to deliver a new co-located facility.
ICN Vic is working with the Victorian Health Building Authority to maximise opportunities for local and regional sub-contractors, manufacturers and product suppliers.
The project includes building and commissioning a new 24-bed facility to be located and operated by Cohuna District Hospital.
Each resident in the new facility will have a single bedroom and private ensuite, promoting dignity, privacy and independence.
It will deliver contemporary models of aged care that are dementia friendly, support mental health, and are suited to the needs of people with complex care needs.
The work is expected to start in late 2024 and be finished in 2026.
The new Cohuna aged care facility is part of the Victorian Government’s Regional and Rural Public Sector Residential Aged Care Services Revitalisation Strategy.
