Innovation and technology the secret to rapid growth

With a range of clients from small businesses to the Northern Territory Government, True Blue IT has cornered the Top End ICT market in just two years.

In fact, it is the Territory’s fastest growing ICT provider, winning ICT Business of the Year 2023 and runner-up Small Business Champion.

Director Rifat Mahmud credits True Blue’s success to a team that is passionate about new technologies and innovations.

The company has brought the internet to remote communities through Starlink and developed its own CRM automation to that links with major accounting and point-of-sale systems.

“For a place like the NT, where around 95% of it is remote communities, and where there is not enough network, enough internet, enough good connections to connect to the world, Starlink is a great option,” Rifat said.

“People in remote communities can use Starlink to run business and operations.”

One of True Blue IT’s most impactful projects involved installing Starlink in the remote Maningrida community for the Department of Territory Families, Housing and Communities.

The project, which the company won via ICN Gateway, involved implementing Starlink and providing ongoing support in Maningrida to ensure the community remains seamlessly connected.

“This success has become a benchmark for similar projects globally, highlighting the potential for sustainable development through advanced satellite technology,” Rifat said.

Meanwhile, the proprietary CRM, True Blue Connect, minimises costs to small and medium businesses.

Ture Blue is a managed service provider offering clients with 24/7 support, cybersecurity and cloud-based services. It’s also a Microsoft 365 partner.

“We recently set up a new construction company and with any office set up, you always start with Microsoft 365. We set up everything for them, their PCs, desktops and network configurations,” Rifat said.

Not content to limit its services, True Blue IT also offers web and app development as well as digital marketing.

They also support small and medium businesses in the Territory through training and workshops through the Business Enterprise Centre.

“This grabs the attention of the local industry. We are small, but we are learning and trying and growing,” Rifat said.

Since its inception, the company has been using ICN Gateway as a primary tool to get in front of potential clients.

“My business mentor and advisor told me to be part of ICN NT,” Riz said. “He said it was like an online resume for your business. That sounded like a great option for me.”

According to Rifat, ICN has provided True Blue IT with a massive return on investment.

“The visibility we gained from ICN’s platform has helped us establish strong relationships with key industry players, leading to collaborative opportunities and joint ventures,” he said.

“ICN’s support has been a catalyst for our growth, enabling us to scale our operations and increase our contributions to the Territory’s economy.”

Rifat’s vision for True Blue IT is to continue to support the NT economy as much as possible as the Territory strives to meet its ambitious goal of a $40 billion economy by 2030.

“Even though we are small, we will contribute as much as possible,” Rifat said.

“In the meantime, we will always adopt the newest technology and look forward to a future where we will be the most modern and technologically adapted business in the Northern Territory.”
