Woodside is proposing to develop the Scarborough gas resource through new offshore facilities connected through an approximately 430 km pipeline to a proposed brownfield expansion of the existing Pluto LNG onshore facility (Pluto Train 2).

The proposed offshore Scarborough activities will initially develop the gas field with up to seven subsea, high-rate gas wells, tied back to a semi-submersible floating production unit (FPU) moored in 900 metres of water close to the Scarborough field.

Scarborough is an integral part of Woodside’s vision for a regional gas hub, the Burrup Hub, which will secure economic growth and local employment opportunities for Western Australia for decades to come.

In Q1 2019 Woodside Energy Ltd. (Woodside) awarded four contracts for the front-end engineering and design activities for Scarborough.

McDermott Australia Pty. Ltd. is undertaking engineering studies for the FPU. This includes the option to progress to an engineering, procurement, and construction contract for the execute phase activities.

Subsea Integration Alliance, a consortium of OneSubsea Australia Pty. Ltd. and Subsea 7 Australia Contracting Pty. Ltd., is undertaking engineering studies for subsea umbilical risers and flowlines. This includes the option to progress to a next stage engineering, procurement, construction, and installation contract.

Saipem Australia Pty. Ltd. is providing export trunkline engineering support services with the option to execute line pipe coating and installation activities.

Intecsea Pty. Ltd. is providing export trunk line FEED engineering services, with an option to progress execute engineering services.

In Q3 2019 Woodside Energy Ltd. (Woodside)  awarded a further contract to Boskalis Australia Pty Ltd, who is providing engineering services with the option to execute seabed intervention and shore crossing activities.

The option to progress to execute phase activities under the contracts is subject to, among other conditions, a positive final investment decision being taken on the project by the Scarborough Joint Venture.

Woodside is targeting a final investment decision for Scarborough in H2 2021.
