Arra Group Pty Ltd (ARRA), is a majority Indigenous (Aboriginal), owned, managed, and controlled company established in 2017, Perth, WA based company and workshops access in Pilbara, Licensed Electrical Contractor, Recruitment Specialist and Project Management, with several tier 1 and Oil and Gas, Defence clients. Importantly ARRA is a registered Group Training Organisation, and we already employ and engage Indigenous and non-Indigenous, plus female Apprentices and Trainees across our projects and for key clients/contractors, Electrical, Mechanical and Construction trades.
ARRA Group’s core focus helps candidates and businesses realise their leadership potential and celebrate diversity. ARRA Group’s key focus area of work has been in Oil/Gas and Resources, labour hire and project teams, INLECS, Electricians, Mechanical Fitters, Boilermaker Welders, Pipe Fitters, Scaffolders/Ropes and support roles TA’s and spotters.
“The key to success here is finding alignment between the people we are hiring and the companies we want to work for,” explains Shaz Rind, founding managing director of Arra Group. “We work with both mid-sized and major organisations and what we find is that no matter what stage they’re at, there exists unique challenges associated with the sourcing, training and ongoing development of Indigenous peoples that requires the right support.”
We are building the new generation – our goal is to see Australian industry powered by a workforce that truly represents Australia, encouraging involvement from Indigenous people, women in non-traditional roles and others who might face a lack of employment opportunities in the mining, resources, and wider industrial sector,” says Rind.
UGL (part of CIMIC group) worked with ARRA Group to service the Chevron/WA Oil engagements some 5 years ago, both UGL and Chevron provided great support and sponsorship, this really allowed ARRA to become a specialist’s provider in Oil and GAS projects and build the Indigenous talent base, with qualified talent and introduce an up-skill program for suitable candidates into Electrical apprenticeships and opportunities. These opportunities now have grown Indigenous talent across UAJV and Woodside. A successful factor is the great work commitment by other Perth based contactors the commit to growing local talent, key leaders in this are Venture Smart, a Ventia joint venture in Western Australian civil and mining projects, Indigenous and non-Indigenous Electrical apprentices on this project for last 5 years with candidates finishing their trades and working direct FTE or moving onto to other clients and projects in Oil and Gas both with ARRA and client direct.
ICN provides a real gateway for ARRA Group to find projects and clients that are genuine about Indigenous Engagement and building local talent to grow the next generation of skilled trades that can service the Oil and Gas, Resources, Infrastructure and Defence industries in Western Australia. Arra Group are always building the talent base and recently placed seven (7) Indigenous Electrical apprentices and two non-Indigenous (2) across Intelligent Freeways Alliance and Global testing Service in Perth. ARRA Group vision is certain that through genuine training and development opportunities, companies can move beyond policy, access diverse talent pools and open up additional business opportunities when applying for government contracts and tenders.
