Inland Rail – Narrabri to North Star – Phase 1 – closing 31 Dec
Comprising 13 projects, Inland Rail is a 1,700km fast freight backbone that will transform how we move goods around Australia by providing transit times of less than 24 hours between Melbourne and Brisbane.
The Narrabri to North Star project involves an upgrade to approximately 186km of track within the existing rail corridor and construction of a new 2.3km rail corridor. Phase 1 is a brownfield section and involves upgrading works within the existing ARTC rail corridor
The following five work packages are available until 31 December:
- Supply and cartage of construction water for soil compaction activities and dust suppression of haul roads
- Wet and dry hire of mobile cranes
- General earthworks (cut, fill, subgrade treatment) and track formation reconstruction
- Wet and dry hire of large plant which may include compactors, dozers, earthmovers, excavators, graders, rollers and scrapers, and
- Wet and dry hire of dump trucks to transport and remove/ dispose of spoil and topsoil.

Regional Rail Project – 15-year term maintenance contracts on offer– closing 19 Nov
UGL Rail Services has been awarded a contract to provide asset management services as part of the Regional Rail Project. The services include maintaining a 117-carriage fleet (built by CAF), which are anticipated to be delivered between Q2 2022 and Q3 2024, and maintaining a newly built maintenance facility (built by CPB) in Dubbo, NSW expected to start during Q1 2022.
The 12 work packages below are on offer until 19 November, and the maintenance service contracts are for up to 15 years (with options to extend):
- Air conditioning ventilation maintenance repairs
- Cleaning services
- Crane maintenance
- Electrical services
- Fire safety systems
- First aid services equipment
- General mechanical repairs
- Landscaping
- Pest control
- Plumbing services
- Security services
- Waste recycling

Riverina Redevelopment Program – design closing by 19 Nov, others early 2022
Lendlease and local contractor Joss Construction have combined to form the Lendlease Joss Project Team and are submitting a tender in response to the Riverina Redevelopment Program.
The $1b Riverina Redevelopment Project is a program of works across three Department of Defence establishment including:
- Albury Wodonga Military Area (including North, South & East Bandiana, Latchford Barracks, Wirlinga), NSW / VIC
- Kapooka Military Area (including Blamey Barracks), NSW, and
- RAAF Base Wagga, NSW.
There is a work package closing on 19 November that invites architectural, engineering, building design and drafting service providers to submit an EOI to provide services to the company or companies that are awarded the total design package.
The rest of the design and consultancy work packages and the trade packages close in March 2022.

Avonlie Solar farm – new project – work packages closing 19 Dec
BEON Energy Solutions has an EPC Contract for the Avonlie Solar Farm with Iberdrola Australia. Avonlie Solar Farm is about 20 kilometres south of Narrandera, NSW and has a nameplate rating of 245.47MWp.
The work packages that are available until 19 December include:
- ATV Servicing and repairs
- Crane hire
- Electrical – Site Setup
- Fencing – Internal
- Generator Servicing
- Mowing and Slashing
- O&M Building
- Onsite Catering
- Pallet Disposal
- Plumbing services – Site setup
- Potable Water Supply
- Rubbish Removal, and
- Security – Static Guard.

The farm consists of approximately 455,000 PV (photovoltaic) modules mounted on piers that will be driven into the existing subgrade. In addition to this, there will be 35 power station units. Construction should begin in Q1 2022 and should take 14 months
Rye Park Wind Farm – long lead project
The $700m 396MW wind farm project consists of 66 wind turbines and associated infrastructure. Three main contractors have been engaged to undertake the works: Zenviron, Vestas and TransGrid. It will be built on an elevated ridgeline near the town of Rye Park, close to Yass in the Southern Tablelands region of NSW. Construction begins in late 2021 and should complete in early 2024.
There are lots of work packages available for this project—from ecological monitoring services, overhead transmission line components and quarry materials to fire alarm and fire extinguisher services, generator hire, vehicles and security services.
The project’s construction begins in late 2021 completing in early 2024.

The Riverina Redevelopment Program – Defence Estates – long lead project
Riverina Redevelopment Joint Venture is comprised of CPB Contractors and Downer and relates to Defence’s Riverina Redevelopment Project. The scope comprises major upgrade or replacement of existing infrastructure and facilities to support Defence capability for the next 25 years.
The joint venture has a number of long lead work packages available under consultant services (e.g. architecture, engineering, environment and surveying) and trade packages (including building services, demolition, earthworks, materials handling and pavements) that close in March 2022.

Botany Rail Duplication – long lead project
This $190 million John Holland project aims to provide the capacity to meet predicted growth in the containerised freight task and support rail services between Port Botany and metropolitan freight intermodal terminals. This is also part of the wider Port Botany Rail Duplication project.

Maragle Switching Station and Transmission Line – closing in Nov and Dec
This $90 million UGL and TransGrid project involves a high voltage separable portion transmission and switching station in the Riverina region, approximately 500 km south west of Sydney.
Work packages available for this project include:

- Concrete Supply East (1 Dec)
- Geotech for Transmission Lines (1 Dec)

The scope of the work includes design, supply, construct manage, test and commissioning of a new 330kV switching station, OPGW/OHEW upgrade cut into existing Line 64, and 10km of two new double circuit 330kV transmission lines.

Sydney Metro City & Southwest – Barangaroo Station – closing in Nov
BESIX Watpac, an Australian engineering-led multi-disciplinary contractor, is delivering Sydney Metro’s stunning new Barangaroo Station in the heart of Sydney’s CBD. Barangaroo Station is about 25m below ground level, servicing Sydney’s newest business hub.
The construction for this project includes the underground station platforms, full fit-out and station entrance, as well as road and public domain works, including footpaths, cycling facilities, tree planting, lighting and street furniture.
The following work packages are all available until 30 November:
- Advertising panels
- Ceramic tiling
- Concrete sealing
- Joinery
- Landscaping
- Metal roofing
- Painting
- Paving
- Roof Safety Systems, and

Sydney Metro City & Southwest – Crows Nest Station – closing Nov, Dec and Jan
A W Edwards is building the new station at Crows Nest under the Sydney Metro program of works. There are five work packages available on the project’s ICN Gateway page:
- Supply and laying of epoxy floor/sealer coatings (closing 26 Nov)
- Complete preparation and laying of all new road pavements (7 Dec)
- Supply and installation of all roof access points to comply with relevant Australian standards and codes (7 Dec)
- Supply and installation of all metal deck roofing, gutters and associated downpipes (15 Dec), and
- Supply and installation of all wayfinding and statutory signage (7 Jan 2022).
Crows Nest Station will sit between the Pacific Highway and Clarke Lane (eastern side of the Pacific Highway) and between Oxley Street and south of Hume Street. It will be strategically located to the south of the existing station at St Leonards and close to the leisure and retail strip along Willoughby Road.

Sydney Metro City & Southwest – Station Upgrade Works (Marrickville, Canterbury and Lakemba) – packages for November & December
The Southwest Metro Station Upgrade Works Package 4 covers all the works required to repurpose Marrickville, Canterbury and Lakemba Train Stations to suit the new Metro Southwest services. This is being delivered by a joint venture between Haslin Constructions and Stephen Edwards Constructions Transport for NSW.
Work packages cover possession and non-possession work and include:
- Form Reo Pour (FRP) works for slabs and retaining walls and other miscellaneous items (30 Nov)
- Building works including block walls, FRP of footing and retaining walls, rough in of services, tiling and finishes (12 Dec)
- Civil works – installation of kerbing, pavement and line-marking on council and RMS roads (31 Dec), and
- Supply and install of landscaping and precinct works – footpaths, garden beds and street furniture (31 Dec).

The Sydney Gateway project is part of Transport for NSW’s strategy to increase the capacity of the infrastructure and services in the area surrounding Sydney Airport at Mascot.
There are eight work packages available for $2.6b mega project in November and December:

- Piling works for bored, CFA and/or screw piles (5 Dec)
- Place and finish concrete (31 Dec)

Port Botany Rail Line Duplication (including Cabramatta Loop) Project – closing in Dec
ARTC’s Port Botany Rail Duplication (including Cabramatta Loop) project comprises the duplication of the remaining single-track section of the Port Botany Rail Line and delivery of a new passing loop on the Southern Sydney Freight Line.

Cabramatta Loop Project – closing Dec 21 and Feb 22
Fulton Hogan is the contractor for ARTC’s $80 million project to introduce a 1.65km long passing loop between existing Glenfield and Leightonfield Passing Loops.
The work packages are available for:
- Drainage pipe supply (31 Dec)
- Drainage pit supply (31 Dec)
- Reinforcement Supply (1 Feb 2022)
- Concrete Supply (1 Feb), and
- Precast Girder (9 Feb).
Major construction is scheduled to commence in mid 2022 and the project is expected to be open to traffic late 2024. This is part of the wider Port Botany Rail Duplication project.

EnergyConnect – SecureEnergy JV – long lead project
SecureEnergy, a Joint Venture between Clough and Elecnor, is looking for companies to register their interest for any future opportunities that may arise on the EnergyConnect project in the Riverina region.
Project EnergyConnect covers the SA/NSW border to Buronga and involves the construction and operation of new high voltage (HV) electricity transmission lines between the NSW-SA border at Chowilla and Buronga; and the expansion of the existing substation facilities at Buronga NSW.

Moorebank Logistics Park Development – long lead project
The $2b project, located on a 243-hectare precinct at Moorebank in south-west Sydney near the junction of the M5 and M7 motorways, will include an import-export (IMEX) terminal, interstate terminal, up to 850,000sqm of warehousing and direct rail access to Port Botany via the Southern Sydney Freight Line.
It will transform the way containerised freight moves through Port Botany and deliver significant economic and environmental benefits to NSW. The project will generate an estimated $11 billion in economic benefits and create an estimated 1,300 jobs through the construction stage and 6,800 ongoing jobs.
The Moorebank Logistics Park has also become the first transport infrastructure project to be backed by the Clean Energy Finance Corporation which describes it as a model for the future of sustainable low-emission freight infrastructure

Sydney Metro West – long lead project
Sydney Metro West is a new 24-kilometre metro line with stations confirmed at Westmead, Parramatta, Sydney Olympic Park, North Strathfield, Burwood North, Five Dock, The Bays, Pyrmont and Hunter Street in the Sydney CBD.
The once in a century infrastructure investment will have a target travel time of about 20 minutes between Parramatta and the Sydney CBD, link new communities to rail services and support employment growth and housing supply.
The project is expected to create about 10,000 direct and 70,000 indirect jobs during construction.
The first major tunnelling contract valued at $1.96 billion was awarded in July 2021 to Acciona Construction Australia Pty Ltd and Ferrovial Construction (Australia) Pty Ltd Joint Venture to deliver 11 kilometres of twin metro rail tunnels between Sydney Olympic Park and The Bays.
The second major contract is expected to be awarded by the end of 2021 for the contract to build nine kilometres of twin tunnels between Westmead and Sydney Olympic Park.
