Welcome
With 2022 almost over, and nearly three years of the challenges a global pandemic brings, here at ICN we are excited about the opportunities for local and regional suppliers with a huge range of infrastructure projects on the go across the country. Australia is truly in the middle of a construction-led recovery.
This includes major metropolitan rail upgrades in Perth, Sydney and Melbourne.
The Metronet project in the western capital will see the city’s first elevated rail solution as part of the city-shaping Armadale line upgrade, while the Sydney Metro West joint venture has listed its first packages for Central West Tunnelling project.
Meanwhile, we bring you the story of Stilcon, a family-owned steel business that won a major tender to supply more than 500,000 pieces to the Melbourne Metro Tunnel project.
Still in Victoria, Australia’s largest ever freight rail infrastructure project is calling for expressions of interest in the Tottenham to Albury stage. Inland Rail will travel through three states, linking Melbourne with Brisbane, transforming freight travel and delivering economic benefits to regional communities.
Further south, the Apple Isle is working towards its ambition to be a world-leading renewable energy provider with the North-West Transmission Developments (NWTD) project, a once-in-a century upgrade to the electricity transmission network.
As BAE’s Hunter Class Frigate program nears the end of its prototype stage, ICN SA will be listing some 100 requests for information from suppliers with capacity and capability to supply into the full rollout of nine frigates.
ICN NSW is partnering with the Ferrovial Gamuda Joint Venture joint venture on the Coffs Harbour bypass project to maximise opportunities for local businesses and suppliers.
In non-project news, ICN Queensland has released the Tier Barometer Tool (TBT), designed to help local industry suppliers understand their tier level of supply in major project supply chains.
We also bring you news of the Endeavour Awards, and our new Climate Clever initiative designed to help SME’s on their carbon reduction journey.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our SME’s for their continued support in 2022. From all of us at ICN, we wish you and yours a Merry Christmas, and a safe and prosperous New Year.
