ICN launches ‘one-stop-shop’ Australian rail industry

AusRAIL 2010 saw the launch of the Industry Capability Network (ICN) Rail Directory; a “one-stop-shop” web portal that showcases Australian rail manufacturers’ capabilities and connects suppliers with rail opportunities both locally and overseas.

Acting as a “connection point” for the Australian rail industry, the directory brings together suppliers and procurement managers in one central location. Suppliers can list their company free of charge and buyers can use the powerful search function to find suppliers that meet their exact specifications.

ICN’s executive director, Derek Lark, was quick to highlight the impact this tool will have on the local rail industry.

“For the first time ever, the Australian rail industry will have one central meeting point that showcases both the capabilities of local suppliers and lists the project opportunities both here and overseas,” Derek said.

“Registering on the directory is free and suppliers can manage their company profiles, search for new business and register expressions of interest against listed projects.”

Supporting the directory is ICN’s national network of technical consultants working behind the scenes to identify and build effective partnerships.

“Everyday we help project managers find world-class Australian rail suppliers,” he said.

“Across a range of industries, ICN has already helped local businesses secure more than $15 billion worth of contracts that may have otherwise gone overseas.

“Whether you’re a supplier or a project manager, you can’t afford not to be using this powerful
business tool.

“Really, this is a win-win. We help suppliers find new business and help buyers save time and money during the procurement process.
