Industry Capability Network (ICN) Limited‘s Executive Director, Derek Lark, today welcomes Prime Minister Julia Gillard’s announcement of a new report that maps out a shared vision for the future of Australia’s manufacturing sector.

‘ICN has a long and successful record supporting the manufacturing sector, we are currently working on some of the biggest projects both here and abroad,’ he said.

‘These include the Inpex and Gorgon gas projects, several major rail and infrastructure projects as well as major mining developments both in Australia and in global markets such as China.

‘We are excited by the recommendations and look forward to working with government and industry bodies to continue to support, develop and enhance relationships for Australian manufacturing and services companies,’ Mr Lark said.

‘In particular, we welcome the recommendation to expand the Australian Government’s Buy Australian at Home and Abroad Scheme.

ICN currently manages more than $4 million worth of Australian Government grants through this scheme and in the last year alone has helped Australian companies win $4.2 billion worth of contracts that could have gone to overseas competitors.

ICN is committed to supporting local companies and has a national network of technical consultants and a powerful online research and support tool, called ICN Gateway, to help link suppliers and opportunities.

‘Local suppliers can use ICN Gateway to search for new work and register their interest against a range of projects and works packages,’ Mr Lark said.

There are currently more than 60,000 Australian suppliers registered on ICN Gateway, which houses over 130 projects valued at $247 billion.

For more information about ICN and the opportunities available to Australian suppliers, go to www.icn.org.au or call your local ICN consultant on 1300 961 139.

ICN is an independent organisation funded by Australian, state and territory governments. Since it started 28 years ago, ICN has helped Australian suppliers find $20.6 billion worth of contracts.
