Woodside and its main contractors are working with ICNWA to identify local capability for a range of opportunities to develop new gas resources through proven LNG facilities in the Pilbara, Western Australia.
This includes developing the Scarborough offshore gas field, together with onshore expansion at the Pluto LNG Park and third-party processing opportunities through existing North West Shelf facilities.
Woodside has been operating in the Pilbara for more than 30 years and these projects will ensure the continued supply of domestic gas and LNG and provide significant ongoing employment and local content opportunities.
The company together with its main contractors have listed work packages under each project, with Pluto LNG2, Pluto Modification and Scarborough all expected to have more listed soon.
Under the Australian Industry Participation plan, Woodside is committed to ensuring Australian companies are given the opportunity to supply into the projects. Woodside has strong commitments under its 2021-25 Reconciliation Action Plan. Under this plan, Woodside has set new targets for national outcomes and local opportunities for our host communities.
Woodside has selected Bechtel (Western Australia) Pty Ltd as its engineering, procurement and construction contractor for the construction of Pluto LNG Train 2.
In February, Woodside and Bechtel hosted two industry briefings in Karratha and Roebourne to understand the capabilities of local businesses and answer any queries about potential opportunities in support of their activities. Representatives from Woodside also spoke at a City of Karratha Business Breakfast Briefing. In March the Chamber of Commerce and Industry ran breakfast events featuring Woodside opportunities and hosted by ICN WA.
