ICN NT, along with the Chamber of Commerce NT, has advertised for a Regional Manager/Industry Advisor to take up an exciting new Regional Manager/Industry Advisor position in Gove. This position will be modeled on the successful joint role occupied by Colin Abbott in Katherine. It is a challenging task to serve two masters but there are complimentary responsibilities with both organisations and Colin has proven it can be managed successfully.
The Gove position is also supported both financially and in partnership with Developing East Arnhem Land (DEAL) which sees the presence of both ICN and the Chamber as beneficial to the local business community. ICN and the Chamber are both committed to increasing engagement in the East Arnhem region, and working to ensure effective support and representation for East Arnhem businesses.
The closure of the Rio Tinto mine in Gove will see expenditure of approximately $1B over the next 8 to 10 years so that level of activity in itself justifies local resource. However, the challenge for all concerned is to work towards new industry to see the region prosper in new ways.
