Maragle Switching Station and Transmission Line – packages closing in Sep and Oct
This newly listed $90 million UGL and TransGrid project involves a high voltage separable portion transmission and switching station in the Riverina region, approximately 500 km south west of Sydney. The scope of the work includes design, supply, construct manage, test and commissioning of a new 330kV switching station, OPGW/OHEW upgrade cut into existing Line 64, and 10km of two new double circuit 330kV transmission lines.
There are six new work packages available for this project:
- Bulk Earthworks, including drainage and reestablishment (30 Sep)
- Concrete Supply (30 Sep)
- Marshalling Boxes (30 Sep)
- Site Clearing – Switching Station (13 Oct)
- Supervision of Bulk Earthworks (13 Oct), and

TransGrid (electricity transmission operator in New South Wales (NSW)) and ElectraNet (electricity distributor in South Australia (SA) are currently progressing planning approvals and associated activities for the construction and operation of a new electrical interconnector and network support options between NSW and SA.
Project EnergyConnect covers the SA/NSW border to Buronga and involves the construction and operation of new high voltage (HV) electricity transmission lines between the NSW-SA border at Chowilla and Buronga; and the expansion of the existing substation facilities at Buronga NSW.
Sydney Gateway – Stages 1 & 3 – 10 packages closing in Oct, Nov & Dec
There are 10 work packages available for Transport for NSW’s $2.6b Sydney Gateway mega project over the next few months.
John Holland Seymour Whyte Joint Venture was awarded the design and construction contract and is looking for Australian suppliers for:

The project is a new, above ground, toll-free connection from St Peters Interchange to the International and Domestic terminals, and beyond.
Sydney Gateway will provide more efficient journeys from Western Sydney to the front door of Sydney Airport and towards Port Botany – unlocking access to the airport and catering for the future growth. Early works started in late 2020 and construction will start this year.
Sydney Metro City & Southwest – Barangaroo Station – closing in Oct and Nov
BESIX Watpac, an Australian engineering-led multi-disciplinary contractor, is delivering Sydney Metro’s stunning new Barangaroo Station in the heart of Sydney’s CBD. Barangaroo Station is about 25m below ground level, servicing Sydney’s newest business hub.
The construction for this project includes the underground station platforms, full fit-out and station entrance, as well as road and public domain works, including footpaths, cycling facilities, tree planting, lighting and street furniture.
The following work packages are currently available:
- Cement rendering to various areas throughout the station fitout (by 1 Oct)
- Stainless steel/Aluminium glazed handrails and balustrades (1 Oct)
- Miscellaneous metal work supply & installation (1 Oct)
- Supply and installation of advertising panels throughout the station fitout (30 Nov)
- Supply and installation of ceramic tiling throughout the station fitout (30 Nov)
- Supply and installation of paving to external areas (30 Nov)
- Supply and installation of terrazzo throughout the station fitout (30 Nov), and

Sydney Metro City & Southwest – Station Upgrade Works (Marrickville, Canterbury and Lakemba) – packages for November & December
A joint venture between Haslin Constructions and Stephen Edwards Constructions is delivering the Southwest Metro Station Upgrade Works Package 4 for Transport for NSW.
The works are required to repurpose Marrickville, Canterbury and Lakemba Train Stations to suit the new Metro Southwest services.
The current work packages cover possession and non-possession work and include supply and install of all wayfinding signage for station and precinct, concrete FRP work, metro service building works, and civil works (non-possession works on council and RMS roads).

Sydney Metro City & Southwest (C&SW) includes a new 30km metro line extending the metro rail from the end of Sydney Metro Northwest at Chatswood, under Sydney Harbour, through new CBD stations and southwest to Bankstown.
It is due to open in 2024 with ultimate capacity to run a metro train every two minutes each way through the centre of Sydney.
Cabramatta Loop Project – 6 packages in Oct and Nov
Fulton Hogan is the contractor for ARTC’s $80 million project to introduce a 1.65km long passing loop between existing Glenfield and Leightonfield Passing Loops. Major construction is scheduled to commence in mid 2022 and the project is expected to be open to traffic late 2024. This is part of the wider Port Botany Rail Duplication project.
The work packages that are available are:
- Soil testing and analysis
- Sydney Water Works (contestable)
- Haulage and Transport
- Vortok fencing
- Sawcutting, and
- Endeavour Energy Street Lighting (non-contestable).

Botany Rail Duplication – long lead project
This $190 million John Holland project aims to provide the capacity to meet predicted growth in the containerised freight task and support rail services between Port Botany and metropolitan freight intermodal terminals. This is also part of the wider Port Botany Rail Duplication project.

New England Solar Farm – 2 packages in September
Green Light, a subsidiary of Elecnor Australia, is the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor responsible for handling the ongoing operation and maintenance (O&M) for the New England solar farm, within Uralla Shire Council in the Northern Tablelands region of New South Wales.
Stage one of the project includes a 400MWAC solar farm, 33/330kV Substation, and an operations and maintenance building (O&M Building). The solar farm will convert energy from solar radiation into electrical energy, which will then be fed into the electricity grid.
There are two work packages closing on 30 September: food truck services and the supply and install of all furniture and fixtures for O&M and Warehouse Buildings.
