In just 2½ years, Arc Professional Services has built an impressive list of clients including the Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG), the SEA5000 Hunter Class Future Frigate Program and the Australian Taxation Office, Cyber Augmentation Services program.
Arc is a veteran-owned business providing capability, resources and staff for a range of security environments, specialising in Defence and intelligence solutions.
With its head office in Canberra and supporting its staff based in Perth, Brisbane, Sydney, and Canberra, Arc’s team has extensive project and technical expertise, with government experience focused on classified environments. It also is an accredited Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) company.
According to founder and managing director Jeremy Stredwick, this success is due to being an “ethical, low-cost provider”.
“Our claim to fame is transparency,” he said. “We are very clear and transparent with everyone we work with. Integrity and long-lasting relationships is at the heart of our work”
“That’s why our tagline is ‘We do the work. We get it done’.”
Arc is working with DSTG on its Resilient Decision Highway (RDH) project, launched in 2019 with the goal of improving collaborative problem-solving, situational awareness, and operational decision-making within the Australian Defence Force and its Five Eyes partners (Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States).
DSTG came to Arc and invited them to tender as part of a competitive bid.
“They wanted someone they could trust who would provide transparency and a focus on value for money,” Jeremy said.
The work is based on deliverables, with Arc employees embedded in the project and DSTG is holding them accountable for an outcome.
The Arc team initially focused on developing and maintaining the platform infrastructure, providing a robust and secure foundation for the RDH project.
Arc’s team will help create synthetic reasoning agents and dynamic orchestration systems to support mission-agnostic integrated analytics. This involved developing advanced data analysis systems capable of processing vast amounts of intelligence data in real-time. Additionally, the team designed user interfaces to enhance collaboration between AI capabilities and end-users; this ensured a productive and trusted relationship that improved decision-making capabilities.
“Winning this contract is a testament to our team’s expertise and our unwavering commitment to supporting the Australian Defence Force and its allies,” Jeremy said.
“We are honoured to be a contributor to the RDH project, leveraging our extensive experience in challenging and complex ICT environments to deliver innovative solutions that enhance operational effectiveness.”
Jeremy launched Arc off the back of 20 years of military service, followed by employment and consultancy in the Defence and national security space.
“That gives you a robust background to know what works and what doesn’t. It’s a small community, and the only way it works is by building ethical, long-lasting relationships,” he said.
As a reasonably new business with an enviable track record in Defence, Jeremy subscribed to ICN planning to expand his experience into work with the nuclear submarine project.
“We do systems integration project work, and naturally, nuclear submarines have a whole lot of need for that.”
“It’s still relatively early days for that side of stuff. But that was my kind of first foray with ICN, to get registered and start getting the work package information.
“Naturally, from there, it’s about seeking out new work and partners. For example, BAE is a large provider in ICN, so we now need to go to BAE and become a registered subcontractor.”
In other words, ICN gives Jeremy and Arc the opportunity to get in front of these Defence primes.
“Sometimes you just get lucky with work, but you’re lucky because you’re in the right place at the right time and have the right relationships,” Jeremy said.
