A little over a month ago, I shared the news of my appointment as the new CEO of ICN Victoria. Stepping into this role, I am genuinely honoured and energised to lead an organisation so committed to strengthening local supply chains, supporting the Victorian Government’s Local Jobs First policy.
Firstly, I would like to express my gratitude to our Interim CEO Kristan Dooleyfor her exceptional leadership in the months leading up to my appointment. Kristan’s dedication and guidance has been instrumental in ensuring our continued progress.
What drew me to this position is the alignment with the Local Jobs First Policy. Recognising the importance of supporting our local businesses and workforce. ICN Victoria is committed to creating opportunities and driving economic development right here in our own backyard. It’s a responsibility I take to heart, and I am enthusiastic about the positive impact we can make together.
I’m pleased to say my first month has been busy, so I’d like to share some of what the ICN Victoria team has been up to!
Connecting with local manufacturers
To support and implement the Local Jobs First policy, a deep understanding of local capability is essential. Spending time with Victorian manufacturers and suppliers is a key part of how we Help Local Win.
I was recently given a guided tour of the Sutton Tools Pty LtdSmart Centre in Melbourne’s north. Sutton Tools manufacture and supply cutting tools used in various industries such as automotive, aerospace, construction, and medtech.
Such visits and engagements are essential for fostering partnerships and driving initiatives that align with the Local Jobs First policy.
Thanks to Sutton Tools General Manager of Key Accounts APAC, Peter Rollauer, and General Manager of Key Accounts Global, Jeff Boyd, for having us along.
Witnessing collaboration
How we support industry was clearly on show at ICN Victoria’s inaugural Renewable Energy Mixer, held last Thursday at the MCG.
We brought together more than 200 industry leaders, innovators, and stakeholders to explore opportunities in Victoria’s emerging renewable energy sector.
To witness firsthand the breadth of ICN Victoria’s network was truly inspiring. Speaking directly with industry, it was clear that the work we do in supporting local supply chains is vital to Victoria’s ongoing economic success.
Looking ahead
As we progress into our 40th year, I encourage you to keep an eye on the ICN Victoria events calendar, as we will continue to celebrate this important milestone.
Next up is our annual event at the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix: Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix 2024: Innovation in Transport.
This exclusive gathering will bring together visionaries, thought leaders, and experts to explore groundbreaking ideas that are reshaping the future of transportation, so you can understand how to engage your business with this growing sector.
