Welcome
With Christmas around the corner, it’s a good time to reflect on the achievements of the year. As a network, ICN has grown this year, both in our offerings and out partnerships, all for the benefit of Australian and New Zealand small and medium enterprises. And we intend to keep up the pace into the New Year.
This edition, we bring you news of an exciting collaboration with the Australian National University, which will benefit ACT business, as well as the ACT itself.
Meanwhile, ICN Tasmania has partnered with Renewables, Climate and Future Industries Tasmania to develop the Renewable Energy – Tasmanian Supply Chain Capability Directory; and the South Australian Government is working with ICN SA to identify local and First Nations suppliers for a world-leading hydrogen power station, electrolysers and storage facility near Whyalla.
Still in the renewables sector, ICN NSW is working with Destiny Wind Pty Ltd to develop a proposed floating offshore wind farm off the Hunter coast.
Over in Western Australia, Fortescue is focused on becoming the world’s number one integrated green technology, energy and metals company, and is using ICN Gateway to identify local suppliers that will help them meet zero terrestrial emissions by 2030.
In the Northern Territory, yet another resources company, Tivan, is working with ICN to identify local suppliers for the Mount Peake and Speewah projects in northern Australia.
Earlier this quarter, more than 140 business people from across the Geelong region attended ICN Victoria’s regional showcase to learn about the latest opportunities and network with other businesses.
To round off the activities across our network, ICN Qld is working with Multiplex Constructions to expose local companies to a raft of project opportunities in a new $1.3 billion hospital on Queensland’s Gold Coast.
Finally, ICN offices across the country are working with the newly established Australian Submarine Agency to help identify local capability for Australia’s nuclear- powered submarine program.
In non-project news, we spoke to our credit partner, CreditSource, about the importance of financial due diligence to minimise risks in major projects. And we also celebrate the success of our presence at Indo Pac and our online Climate and Manufacturing Summit.
From all of us at ICN, we hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year.

ICN ACT benefits from young, fresh insightsWhen ICN’s ACT business manager Louise Wakefield agreed to promote an Australian National University (ANU) opportunity to the territory’s small businesses, she soon realised how beneficial the program would be to ICN ACT itself. The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program involves high-caliber ANU student teams developing innovative solutions specific to each participating business. The students are supported by academic mentors to use the business model canvas to provide helpful insights and ideas, as well as different views into specific markets. |
