In July 2020, the Australian Government committed to an investment of $10bn over the next decade into New South Wales Defence facilities.
This includes money to redevelop Kapooka Military Area, Albury-Wodonga Military Area and RAAF Base Wagga.
In response, Lendlease and Albury contractor Joss Construction have combined to form the Lendlease Joss Project Team and are submitting a tender to the Riverina Redevelopment Program.
ICN NSW is working with the project team to ensure local suppliers can promote their capability in the tender stage.
Consultant Geoff Reardon said that should the Lendlease Joss Project Team win the tender, people who registered interest will be kept updated. However, those who have not registered this stage will still be able to submit tenders for work packages
“Lendlease and Joss Construction are committed to maximising local industry and indigenous participation in the region and are interested in hearing from contractors and trade subcontractors who wish to express their interest in the works,” Geoff said.
The estimated capital investment, which is yet to have Government approval, is between $900m to $1bn.
The scope comprises major upgrade or replacement of existing infrastructure and facilities to support Defence capability for the next 25 years and beyond.
The project includes a range of new and upgraded buildings, as well as associated works, including:
- new messing and living accommodation
- new training facilities refurbishment
- new car parks
- upgrades to infrastructure services
- warehousing
- military live fire training range
- explosive ordnance storage facilities
- civil works and demolitions.
The contract is expected to be awarded in March 2022, with the project completed toward the end of 2028.
If you’re interested in lodging an expression of interest in the project, make sure your Gateway profile is up to date.
“Your company summary and company description are used to assess your ability to complete projects when you lodge an EOI,” Geoff said. “It’s important you invest time and resources into making sure you showcase your company in the most effective manner possible.”
