Opportunities and support for SMEs in Canberra are expanding with ICN’s newest office opening in the ACT.

Louise Wakefield, appointed as ICN ACT’s business manager earlier this year has big plans for supporting Canberra businesses and further promoting the services of the national network.

Louise’s skills and professional experience in local government, property development and business make her eminently qualified to lead and thrive in this role.

As a keen collaborator, Louise’s first priority is building networks with the Territory government, industry partners and other stakeholders to deliver positive outcomes for the Canberra economy. Part of that is building up brand awareness for what ICN can do for local suppliers.

“Over the past couple of months, I have really enjoyed building my knowledge of ICN, internally and externally, and my immediate focus is meeting with industry groups, business owners and staff in the Canberra region to understand the existing and emerging capabilities of local suppliers and how re-establishing the ACT office can effectively support business sustainability,”

Louise is passionate about building leadership capability in communities and the important role that micro and small businesses play as community leaders and in driving the local economy.

“My plan for ICN ACT is to leverage our existing connections and the strength of the network and build this team up into a really effective support network for the Canberra community and the Capital region, so we are valued stakeholders in the delivery of the ACT Government’s strategic priorities.

Louise who grew up on a working farm in the Capital region, has held various roles in the public and private sector, as well as experience as a business owner and board member on government and not for profit boards.

“What all this has given me is a broad range of experience working with different stakeholders and regulatory frameworks, so I have a good understanding of how everything works together,” she said. “I love connecting people, ideas and opportunities so we all can succeed”.

The opening of the ACT office re-instates the original ICN footprint, with all Australian states and territories now represented.
