Two vital sectors to our economy, tourism and hospitality, continue to bear the brunt of the necessary Government COVID-19 shut down responses, but there are still a reasonable amount of opportunities particularly in the construction related areas.
The Northern Territory Government’s stimulus programs are now fully committed and with the Home Improvement Scheme being boosted from $30m to $100m, we’d expect local tradies to be quite busy for the foreseeable future.
We’d anticipated a pickup in activity later this year prior to the virus hitting the economy, largely on the back of Defence projects. It appears these projects will proceed regardless so I would encourage businesses to ensure they are well acquainted with ICN processes to enable best outcomes.
Recently we’ve seen Lendlease and Laing O’Rourke posting RFT lists on their respective Gateway Defence project pages. These companies are being very generous in doing so as they are enabling local businesses to undertake business development activities with the knowledge of exactly who will be bidding for work.
