As an extension of my role as CEO of ICN NT, I sit on a number of Committees and Boards of various Government and non-Government organisations whereby the viewpoint of ICN is deemed to be of value.
I also sit as Chair of the NT Business Council, an organisation that brings together the Executive Officers of 28 industry associations and professional bodies. I do so as a means of supporting those individuals and those organisations that support the endeavours of industry across the Northern Territory. They advocate on industry’s behalf, support their members through training and mentoring programs, provide a point of co-ordination for specific sectors and generally provide the information required to enhance their member’s business prospects.
I not only encourage business owners to join their most appropriate organisation but also to invest in them. These organisations will do what they can to support your business, but the greatest benefit can be gained from membership by participating wherever possible in their various activities.
The executive positions are not easy roles as they wrestle the varied interests of their members and the manner in which they portray those views in their advocacy to Government and interest groups.
I acknowledge the professionalism, industry knowledge and contribution to the Chamber of Commerce NT, ICN NT Board and the NT Business Council of Greg Bicknell, who recently announced his resignation as CEO of the Chamber.
Kevin Peters
Chief Executive Officer
