It’s with great pleasure we welcome aboard Lester Hamilton as the ICN NT Central Australian Regional Manager. Lester will be well known to Alice Springs residents as the long-time proprietor of the Brumby’s franchise, as well as his contribution to several community-based organisations. He has a strong commitment to the region and is keen to see activity in the business sector help drive change to a challenging environment.
It is to be hoped that Lester will be busy keeping up with the business landscape in the red centre. It is for the proponents themselves to be making announcements regarding their respective projects, but from an observer’s perspective there are some very promising projects on the horizon.
We are optimistic the year will see positive announcements involving mining, energy and agricultural projects. If the energy related projects maintain momentum, there are very real prospects for pipeline activity. Remote housing construction programs have already been announced so the demands on local businesses will be tested. We also know from our own internal interactions that the Sun Cable project is maintaining a ‘business as usual’ approach.
Lester will be based at the Central Australian Development Office, but will be out and about ensuring local business people have a knowledge of the project activity, and explaining the avenue to opportunity provided by ICN services.
