Botany Rail Duplication – long lead project

This $190 million John Holland project aims to provide the capacity to meet predicted growth in the containerised freight task and support rail services between Port Botany and metropolitan freight intermodal terminals. This is also part of the wider Port Botany Rail Duplication project.

Take a look at the many work packages open for EOIs on this long lead project, including protection officers, services investigations and vac truck hire, soil and slurry disposal, surveying services, traffic control services, plant hire and more. Most of these work packages open until January and February 2022.

Cabramatta Loop Project – closing in Oct, Nov and Dec

Fulton Hogan is the contractor for ARTC’s $80 million project to introduce a 1.65km long passing loop between existing Glenfield and Leightonfield Passing Loops.

The work packages are available for:

  • Haulage and transport (closing 15 Oct)
  • Vortok fencing (16 Oct)
  • Sawcutting (10 Nov)
  • Endeavour Energy Street Lighting (non-contestable) (12 Nov)
  • Drainage pipe supply (31 Dec)
  • Drainage pit supply (31 Dec), and
  • Precast girder (9 Feb 2022).

Major construction is scheduled to commence in mid-2022, and the project is expected to be open to traffic late-2024. This is part of the wider Port Botany Rail Duplication project.

Maragle Switching Station and Transmission Line – closing in Oct, Nov and Dec

This $90 million UGL and TransGrid project involves a high voltage separable portion transmission and switching station in the Riverina region, approximately 500 km southwest of Sydney.

Work packages available for this project include:

  • Site facilities hire (closing 27 Oct)
  • Access grade construction and upgrade (3 Nov)
  • Easement clearing (3 Nov)
  • Supervision of easement clearing and access tracks (3 Nov)
  • Construction of Permanent buildings (11 Nov)
  • Crane hire (15 Nov)
  • Tower pads and benching (27 Nov), and
  • Supply of steel – strengthening works (5 Dec).

The scope of the work includes design, supply, construct management, test and commissioning of a new 330kV switching station, OPGW/OHEW upgrade cut into existing Line 64, and 10km of two new double-circuit 330kV transmission lines.

The Riverina Redevelopment Program – Defence Estates

The Riverina Redevelopment Project is a program of works across three Department of Defence establishments including Albury Wodonga Military Area, Blamey Barracks and RAAF Base Wagga.

The scope comprises major upgrade or replacement of existing infrastructure and facilities to support Defence capability for the next 25 years.

Port Botany Rail Line Duplication (including Cabramatta Loop) Project – closing in Dec

ARTC’s Port Botany Rail Duplication (including Cabramatta Loop) project comprises the duplication of the remaining single-track section of the Port Botany Rail Line and delivery of a new passing loop on the Southern Sydney Freight Line.

There is a variety of work packages available on the project’s ICN Gateway page, which are all closing on 24 December:

Sydney Metro City & Southwest – Crows Nest Station – closing Nov, Dec and Jan

A W Edwards is building the new station at Crows Nest under the Sydney Metro program of works. There are five work packages available on the project’s ICN Gateway page:

  • Supply and laying of epoxy floor/sealer coatings (closing 26 Nov)
  • Complete preparation and laying of all new road pavements (7 Dec)
  • Supply and installation of all roof access points to comply with relevant Australian standards and codes (7 Dec)
  • Supply and installation of all metal deck roofing, gutters and associated downpipes (15 Dec), and
  • Supply and installation of all wayfinding and statutory signage (7 Jan 2022).

Crows Nest Station will be between the Pacific Highway and Clarke Lane (eastern side of the Pacific Highway) and between Oxley Street and south of Hume Street. It will be strategically located to the south of the existing station at St Leonards and close to the leisure and retail strip along Willoughby Road.

Rye Park Wind Farm – long lead project

The Rye Park Wind Farm (RPWF) is a 396MW wind farm project consisting of 66 wind turbines and associated infrastructure. Three main contractors have been engaged to undertake the works, Zenviron, Vestas and TransGrid. It will be built on an elevated ridgeline near the town of Rye Park, which is close to Yass in the Southern Tablelands region of NSW. Construction begins in late 2021 and should be finished in early 2024.

There are lots of work packages available for this project—from concrete supply, earthmoving, electrical substation equipment to cranes, accommodation and fencing.

Sydney Gateway – Stages 1 & 3 – 10 packages closing in Oct, Nov & Dec

The Sydney Gateway project is part of Transport for NSW’s strategy to increase the capacity of the infrastructure and services in the area surrounding Sydney Airport at Mascot.

There are nine work packages available for the $2.6b mega project in November and December:

  • Supply and install – shotcrete and soil nails (1 Nov)
  • Excavation and installation of drainage and backfill (30 Nov)
  • Piling works for bored, CFA and/or screw piles (5 Dec)
  • Place and finish concrete (31 Dec)
  • Form Reo Pour (Concrete structures) – Formwork, steel fixing, concrete place and finish (31 Dec)
  • Installation of formwork (31 Dec)
  • Steel fixing (31 Dec)
  • Supply of electrical pits, street lights and other electrical materials (31 Dec), and
  • Supply of formwork (31 Dec).

Sydney Metro City & Southwest – Station Upgrade Works (Marrickville, Canterbury and Lakemba) – packages for November & December

The Southwest Metro Station Upgrade Works Package 4 covers all the works required to repurpose Marrickville, Canterbury and Lakemba Train Stations to suit the new Metro Southwest services. This is being delivered by a joint venture between Haslin Constructions and Stephen Edwards Constructions Transport for NSW.

Work packages cover possession and non-possession work and include:

  • Supply and install of all wayfinding signage for station and precinct (closing 8 Nov)
  • Form Reo Pour (FRP) works for slabs and retaining walls and other miscellaneous items (30 Nov)
  • Building works including block walls, FRP of footing and retaining walls, rough-in of services, tiling and finishes (12 Dec)
  • Civil works – installation of kerbing, pavement and line-marking on council and RMS roads (31 Dec), and
  • Supply and install of landscaping and precinct works – footpaths, garden beds and street furniture (31 Dec).

Sydney Metro City & Southwest – Barangaroo Station – closing in Nov

BESIX Watpac, an Australian engineering-led multi-disciplinary contractor, is delivering Sydney Metro’s stunning new Barangaroo Station in the heart of Sydney’s CBD. Barangaroo Station is about 25m below ground level, servicing Sydney’s newest business hub.

The construction for this project includes the underground station platforms, full fit-out and station entrance, as well as road and public domain works, including footpaths, cycling facilities, tree planting, lighting and street furniture.

The following work packages are currently available:

  • Supply and installation of advertising panels throughout the station fitout (30 Nov)
  • Supply and installation of ceramic tiling throughout the station fitout (30 Nov)
  • Supply and installation of paving to external areas (30 Nov), and
  • Supply and installation of terrazzo throughout the station fitout (30 Nov).

There is also a package for the supply and installation of miscellaneous furniture, fixtures and equipment items that is open until 1 Feb 2022.

Moorebank Logistics Park Development

The $2b project, located on a 243-hectare precinct at Moorebank in south-west Sydney near the junction of the M5 and M7 motorways, will include an import-export (IMEX) terminal, interstate terminal, up to 850,000sqm of warehousing and direct rail access to Port Botany via the Southern Sydney Freight Line.

It will transform the way containerised freight moves through Port Botany and deliver significant economic and environmental benefits to NSW. The project will generate an estimated $11 billion in economic benefits and create an estimated 1,300 jobs through the construction stage and 6,800 ongoing jobs.

The Moorebank Logistics Park has also become the first transport infrastructure project to be backed by the Clean Energy Finance Corporation, which describes it as a model for the future of sustainable low-emission freight infrastructure
