This edition we bring you success stories from three diverse business, all making their mark on their industry.
- Tasmanian boat builder PFG is punching above its weight winning a contract valued at $6 million to supply the New Zealand Defence Force with three 12.5 metre, high-speed Littoral Manoeuvre Craft.
- Small South Australian manufacturing company PRP is making gasket parts for BAE’s Hunter Frigate prototype stage.
- Newcastle family-owned business, Hunter Cargo and Customs is expanding its business new industries, such as defence and renewables.
South Australia has some exciting news of an ambitious program to firmly establish several hydrogen “hubs” across the state, bringing together industry, academia and government to rapidly accelerate scale of hydrogen ecosystem.
In NSW, ICN and Transport for NSW are working together to ensure local suppliers are exposed to opportunities from the $220 million new bridge over the Macquarie River in Dubbo.
In the sunshine state, Brisbane Move is calling for expressions of interest in the $1.2 billion Brisbane Metro Project.
Over in the west, BHP Iron Ore and Woodside Energy are both working with ICN to identify local suppliers for respective projects – Western Ridge and Pluto Train modifications. And the Northern Endeavour Decommissioning project has begun, with expressions of interest open in a range work packages.
Victorian is seeing a post-lockdown construction boom, with several projects on the go, including the Suburban Rail loop, the Shepparton Corridor upgrade and the Aiken Centre for Medical Discovery, as well as Energy Australia’s Wooreen Battery – claimed to be the world’s biggest battery. Victorian suppliers now also have the opportunity to be involved in Australia’s largest ever freight rail infrastructure project, with Inland Rail calling for expressions of interest in Tottenham to Albury – Stage 1 – Tranche 1.
Nationally, Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) is working with ICN to identify Australian suppliers to support future maritime projects, including the SEA1442 Phase 5 Maritime Communications Modernisation and the SEA5012 Phase 1 Integrated Undersea Surveillance System Program (IUSS).

BHP Western Australia Iron Ore is looking at options for the greenfield development of the Western Ridge site, near Mt Whaleback, West of Newman. The company wants to understand the capacity and capability of local contractors for the proposed project and is using ICN Gateway to call for expressions of interest. Read more
6. LNG opportunities with Woodside Energy
Woodside Energy plans to process up to 3 million tonnes of Scarborough gas via its existing Pluto Train 1. The Pluto Train 1 Scarborough Modifications Project involves modifying the existing Pluto Train 1 facility to enable it to process Scarborough gas. Read more

Beach Energy is an ASX listed, oil and gas, exploration and production company headquartered in Adelaide, South Australia.
It has operated and non-operated, onshore and offshore, oil and gas production from five producing basins across Australia and New Zealand and is a key supplier to the Australian east coast gas market. Read more
8. Major medical research centre gets green light
Victorian suppliers have the chance to be involved in the construction, furniture and fittings as well as medical technology for Australia’s first collaborative, hospital-based biomedical engineering research centre. Read more

Innovative SA company to reap rewards of frigate contract
Luke Sernecki, of PRP Manufacturing, said the company now not only has a deeper relationship with BAE Systems as a prime but could leverage exposure to other primes and related defence projects. “We now have an accolade we are very proud of, and it’s something we can use as a reference for future work,” he said. Tasmania company PFG is punching above its weight winning a contract valued at $6 million to supply New Zealand Defence Force three 12.5 metre, high-speed Littoral Manoeuvre Craft (LMC).The company has supplied vessels to fisheries and fish farms for many years, and has contracts to supply tactical watercraft to the Tasmanian and Queensland police.
